Responding to Abram’s discouragement, God confirmed two of the promises made to his servant a decade earlier. Abram would indeed have a son, not an adopted son, but a son of his own loins. Using the night sky as a pledge, God even promised that the seed of Abram would become as numerous as the starry host. In confirming the land promise, God reminded Abram of his name.
